NextGenBioPest Living Lab at Agri Innovation Expo!

2 min read

On 24 September 2026, NextGenBioPest partner Smart Agro Hub (SAH) hosted a living lab during the Agri Innovation Expo 2026 at the Agricultural University of Athens (AUA). The session gave visitors from the research community the opportunity to discover the project's approach and its application, and to discuss how it can support more sustainable pest management.

Innovation in an open, collaborative setting

Living labs bring researchers, innovators and end users together in a shared space where new solutions can be explored, tested and improved through direct interaction. Hosting one at the Agri Innovation Expo placed NextGenBioPest at the centre of a wider conversation on agricultural innovation, alongside other initiatives working to modernise and green the sector.

Promoting the NextGenBioPest application

The main goal of the SAH living lab was to promote the NextGenBioPest application among researchers and other participants of the Expo. Visitors were introduced to how the tool works and how it can support Integrated Pest Management (IPM), and had the chance to ask questions, share feedback and exchange ideas with the project team. This kind of hands-on dialogue is valuable for understanding how the application can be improved and adopted beyond the project consortium.

A strong link with the research community

Taking place at the Agricultural University of Athens, the event connected the project with students, academics and researchers active in agricultural sciences and digital agriculture. Engaging with this community helps NextGenBioPest strengthen its scientific network, identify opportunities for future collaboration and ensure that its results reach those who can build on them.

Looking ahead

NextGenBioPest will continue to present its tools and results to researchers, farmers, industry and policy makers across Europe. We warmly thank our colleagues at Smart Agro Hub for hosting the living lab, and the organisers of the Agri Innovation Expo 2026 and the Agricultural University of Athens for providing such a welcoming and inspiring venue.
