NextGenBioPest in the Webinar "The Way Forward for Plant Protection - Agricultural Research in Horizon Europe"!

Updated: 3 days ago

On March 4th, 2025, NextGenBioPest, in collaboration with Sagropia, Biovexo, and Virtigation, successfully hosted a webinar titled “The Way Forward for Plant Protection – Agricultural Research in Horizon Europe.” The event brought together leading experts, researchers, and policymakers to discuss the future of sustainable pest management and the role of EU-funded agricultural research.

The webinar commenced with insightful opening remarks from an esteemed representative of the European Union, emphasizing the EU’s commitment to advancing innovative and sustainable plant protection strategies. This set the stage for engaging project presentations, where representatives from each of the four organizing initiatives—NextGenBioPest, Sagropia, Biovexo, and Virtigation—highlighted their groundbreaking research and technological advancements in biopesticides and pest control solutions.

Following the project presentations, a dynamic roundtable discussion took place, providing an interactive platform for expert speakers to address key challenges and opportunities in sustainable pest management. The panelists responded to critical questions regarding the integration of innovative pest control solutions, regulatory hurdles, and the long-term impact of research efforts under Horizon Europe.

The discussions underscored the urgent need for sustainable alternatives to chemical pesticides and the importance of cross-sector collaboration in driving innovation. The participants explored strategies to bridge the gap between research and real-world application, ensuring that cutting-edge solutions effectively reach farmers and stakeholders across Europe.

The webinar concluded with a forward-looking perspective, reinforcing the commitment of NextGenBioPest, Sagropia, Biovexo, and Virtigation to continued research and collaboration in the fight against agricultural pests. The success of this event highlights the significance of knowledge-sharing and joint efforts in shaping the future of plant protection.
