From June 29th to July 3rd, 2026, the XIII European Congress of Entomology took place at the Centre de Congrès Vinci in Tours, France. Our partner MAGMA attended the congress to present NextGenBioPest to the international entomology community, sharing the project's concept and objectives with fellow researchers and distributing project pamphlets to attendees.

Europe's Major Gathering of Entomologists

The European Congress of Entomology is one of the most important meeting points for entomological science on the continent, bringing together researchers, students and practitioners working on topics from insect ecology and taxonomy to pest management and biological control. For a project like NextGenBioPest, whose work spans biological control agents, resistance monitoring, RNA-based solutions and green chemicals, it is a natural venue for finding interested audiences and potential collaborators.

Putting the Project in People's Hands

A large congress offers countless presentations and posters, and it can be hard for any single project to stand out. By presenting NextGenBioPest and handing out pamphlets in person, MAGMA created direct, memorable contact with attendees. The printed material gave researchers an easy way to take the project's key messages home, along with the website and ways to connect with the project, including the Stakeholders Forum and the Virtual Innovation Hub.

Conversations at events like this are often where new collaborations, shared interests and future stakeholders begin to emerge.

Communicating Concept and Objectives

The main purpose of MAGMA's participation was to disseminate the project's concept and objectives: to develop next-generation, eco-friendly tools for managing difficult-to-control pests and pathogens, and to reduce the reliance of European agriculture on conventional synthetic pesticides. Presenting this vision to a European-wide audience of entomologists helps to build recognition for NextGenBioPest within the scientific community and to open the door to future exchange.
