High School Students Visit CBGP Lab to Discover NextGenBioPest Research on Mites!

On June 22, 2026, Institut Agro Montpellier welcomed a group of high school students to the CBGP laboratory (Centre de Biologie pour la Gestion des Populations) for an in-person visit aimed at introducing them to the world of mite research.

During the visit, students had the opportunity to explore ongoing scientific work on mites and learn how fundamental research translates into real-world applications. As part of the program, researchers presented the NextGenBioPest project, giving students a glimpse into how innovative, low-risk approaches to pest management are being developed and why this kind of research matters for sustainable agriculture.

The visit gave young students a hands-on introduction to laboratory life and current scientific projects, sparking curiosity about careers in biology and research. By engaging directly with the next generation, Institut Agro Montpellier and the NextGenBioPest team hope to inspire interest in the sciences while raising public awareness of the challenges and innovations shaping sustainable pest management today.
