The Horizon Europe project NextGenBioPest is proud to announce a new collaboration with SOILL STARTUP, an innovative startup dedicated to unlocking the power of living soils for sustainable and climate-resilient farming. This partnership brings together complementary expertise in soil microbiology, biological plant protection, and digital innovation, supporting the transition toward a healthier, more regenerative agri-food system.
NextGenBioPest is developing a new generation of biological control agents, RNA-based pesticides, plant resistance inducers, and eco-friendly crop protection tools, aiming to reduce reliance on chemical inputs while effectively managing pests and pathogens in key fruit and vegetable crops.
SoILL focuses on leveraging soil biodiversity, biofertilizers, and climate-smart farming technologies to restore soil function, boost plant resilience, and reduce environmental impact. Their work empowers farmers to understand, monitor, and regenerate the microbial life that supports productive and healthy ecosystems.
Through their collaboration, NextGenBioPest and SoILL aim to:
Promote integrated solutions that link above- and below-ground biological processes in crop protection
Develop and share best practices and tools that connect pest management with soil health
Support farmers with knowledge, digital tools, and nature-based products to enhance both yield and ecological integrity
Accelerate the co-creation and uptake of sustainable innovations across the EU farming community
The collaboration will also contribute to joint demonstration activities, open-access learning resources, and dialogue with farmers and stakeholders across Europe. Both partners are committed to advancing the EU Green Deal, the Soil Mission, and the Farm to Fork Strategy by putting ecological innovation at the heart of agriculture.
