The Horizon Europe project NextGenBioPest is pleased to announce a new strategic collaboration with DeepBioTech, an Erasmus+ Higher Education initiative dedicated to transforming life science innovation through deep tech entrepreneurship. This partnership brings together cutting-edge agricultural research and entrepreneurial education to accelerate the real-world impact of life science breakthroughs in crop protection and sustainability.

NextGenBioPest is at the forefront of environmentally responsible plant protection, developing and integrating biological control agents, RNA-based pesticides, green/low-risk chemicals, and innovative diagnostics to reduce chemical pesticide use in fruit and vegetable crops. DeepBioTech complements this mission by empowering university startups and researchers to commercialize life science innovations with economic, social, and environmental value.

Through this collaboration, the two projects will:

  • Foster interdisciplinary innovation between agricultural and life sciences

  • Support student entrepreneurs and spin-offs working on bio-based and deep tech solutions in agriculture

  • Promote digital and entrepreneurial skills for life science researchers in the agri-food sector

  • Accelerate technology transfer and real-world deployment of sustainable crop protection innovations

This partnership expands the impact potential of both initiatives. By working with DeepBioTech, we’re creating new opportunities for university researchers and startups to engage with the fast-evolving field of sustainable agriculture and contribute meaningfully to the green transition.

Joint activities will include co-branded entrepreneurship bootcamps, training modules on deep tech applications in agriculture, and matchmaking opportunities between researchers, startups, and stakeholders in the EU agri-innovation ecosystem.

The collaboration also aims to contribute to broader EU goals under the Green Deal and Farm to Fork Strategy, building a future where science, technology, and entrepreneurship work hand-in-hand for a healthier planet.
