We are delighted to share that NextGenBioPest was recently featured at InnoDays – Innovation Days of the Region of Crete, an event dedicated to highlighting cutting-edge research, innovation, and technological advances that contribute to regional and European competitiveness.
The event brought together innovators, researchers, industry stakeholders, policymakers, and local communities to explore emerging solutions across a range of sectors. With sustainable agriculture and environmental stewardship high on the agenda, NextGenBioPest was well positioned to contribute to discussions about the future of crop protection.
NextGenBioPest Presented by MAGMA
Representatives from MAGMA, a key partner in the NextGenBioPest consortium, had the opportunity to present the project’s vision and progress to a diverse audience. During the presentation, MAGMA highlighted how NextGenBioPest is tackling some of the most pressing challenges in modern agriculture, including:
Reducing reliance on chemical pesticides through the development of novel and low-risk crop protection solutions.
Introducing biological control agents, RNA-based pesticides, and plant resistance inducers as part of an integrated pest management strategy.
Advancing innovative diagnostics for rapid pest and pathogen detection.
Promoting sustainable practices that support both productivity and environmental health.
The presentation sparked lively discussion and interest among attendees, many of whom are engaged in agricultural innovation, research, and regional development. The event provided a valuable platform for NextGenBioPest to connect with stakeholders from the public and private sectors, as well as with citizens curious about the latest advancements in sustainable crop protection.
Strengthening Local and Regional Innovation
Events like InnoDays reinforce the importance of collaboration between research initiatives and local communities. By engaging directly with regional audiences, NextGenBioPest is not only raising awareness about its scientific work but also fostering dialogue about how innovation can support farmers, agribusinesses, and environmental goals in Crete and beyond.
We would like to thank the Region of Crete and the InnoDays organisers for the invitation and for facilitating a constructive and inspiring event.
Stay tuned for more updates on NextGenBioPest activities, collaborations, and outreach efforts as we continue to drive innovation in sustainable agriculture!
